Ad Campain
What struck you about the data? The thing that struck me about the data on my groups survey was the fact that there were so many positive responses. Also how many people responded to our survey, that struck me as well (40 people). Were you surprised by any of the results? How so? I was surprised that so many people said they encourage friends and family to recycle. I'll admit not even I do that because I find it too much of a hassle. I was surprised by how many positive responses we got on questions like "do you recycle" because sometimes it seems like people just don't care. What were your expectations? Were these met or not? My expectations were met. My expectations were that we would get a good response on questions like "what things can and cannot be recycled?" and "do you think the media influences people to recycle?". Based on your findings, what type of ad campaign will you run? Will you being to educate people? Encourage or coerce people? Embarrass people? What is your angle? I think for our ad campain we should say how many people in our survey said they DID recycle because on one of the questions on our survey we asked "what would motivate you to recycle more?" and a lot of the responses said "get more people to recycle." I don't quite know what type of ad campain to use yet but I'm sure we'll be able to show people that if you recycle, you aren't part of a minority -- a lot of people recycle. The Truth About Bottled Water
Okay, so this is a speech I get all the time. It's something my mother will tell people when she sees them drinking bottled water. And it's not the actual speech but the main bullet points.

Urban Homestead
What strikes me about this movie is how well they managed to create this "homestead" in the midst of a city in modern times. Not only do they grow their own food and live off of that as much as they can -- but they also use mainly hand-cranked appliances of which most people today would never use. They used a small amount of land and created a very well-kept and nice-looking homestead. If this family were to make a Needs Vs. Wants sheet I think the wants would be extremely small as would the needs. They already have most of their needs in their own backyard and as for their wants -- I would think that wouldn't stray to far from things relating to their needs. In My Ishmael it talks about numerous things and yet somehow they all have a hidden meaning (in my opinion at least) of living sustainably. The Dervaes family has found a way to live sustainbly. This is how this family ties into us reading My Ishmael. When I had a larger home we grew a garden in the back of our house of herbs and other things. We never bought herbs from the store unless one of the plants died and we couldn't use it. So I know vaguely how the Dervae's family is and admire them to take it to the extent they did. However -- I think with how much I've grown up in society today I wouldn't be able to live the way they do -- or I might be able to, it would just take a long time to get used to. ![]() This picture is called "Homestead" But not in the case of the Dervaes family. More like most of society's definition of "Homestead" and what it might become. On Sunday, March 8, 2009 at 8:25 AM

Anthropomorphism and Erratic Retaliation
Anthropomorphism: application of human attributes to inanimate objects, animals, or natural occurrences. Ishmael is saying that when people see an animal marking its "territory" they think that they are saying "This piece of land is mine." That's not what they are saying, the animals do not actually care about the land they care about what is on the land. Erratic Retaliation is defined as a way of "attacking" a group other than yours and then that group retaliating. In depth it is to show that other group that you are there and not completely ignorant to everything else and you aren't soft as Ishmael put it. Another way Ishmael put it is like flipping a coin do decide something between friends, you're friends with that person -- but you want that person to know that you have your own ideas and that there is a way to show those opinions. Erratic Retaliation is a peacekeeping method because it tells someone you're in existence and if you do something, I'll retaliate -- so don't try it. When you do try to attack I'll attack back. I think that's bluntly what it means. If they just annihilate one another the other tribes will realize they are a threat and retaliate against the initial Annihilators and everything will go out of whack and there will no longer be "Erratic Retaliation" This picture has two names: Retaliation Violence Of The Lambs It's animals retaliating against human society. About me
![]() Konbanwa. My name is Brendon -- and I am a girl, mind you. I'm gluttonous -- I eat a lot... but sadly I've had to cut that down for weight purposes and the sake of my braces (Owwies!). I like some healthy stuff, apples are my favorite. Celery is good too. Specially with peanut butter. I have a really big sweet tooth, specially for chocolate but sadly if I eat too much my throat starts to hurt and I get a bloody nose. If I eat TOO much candy my teeth start hurting too.
